I really like how the colours came together in the picture on the carousel and I tried to translate the magic of the moment into this latest piece. I cannot draw and when Muse struck, I cajoled the small one for some time to work out a prototype.

A touch of elegance, a hint of mystery, a liberal dose of magic. I like how it is taking shape. I haven’t quite decided whether it be a bracelet or a necklace. Or what ’sort’ of necklace. Decisions, decisions. Still, the process is truly lovely.

Pardon the mess. I’m actually working on the blog design. Yes, a first after so many months (ok, more like at least a year). Hang in there. Pardon the out of sync photos and broken links. In general, the blog may come across as an eye-s0re for a couple of days but…I promise it won’t be long.

At long last, the shoppe has gotten a mighty big boost of new items. I can’t quite tell which is my favourite of this lot because they are all special and lovely in their own way. I guess you got to discover them yourself.

Oh wait. I’ve decided. The first piece is my fave. The classic combination of black (ok, smoky quartz) and white never fails. Classic, vintage and yet oh so chic. Something that will be a staple in your wardrobe for many years to come. Really. Come on now, you got to admit that you love it too?

Guess I spoke too soon about being able to return to regular blogging. My son fell ill again with a nasty viral fever that got us all worried. We were all focused on getting him better so that we can go off for our family holiday this erhmmm, friday. Yeap, so we are off to Hong Kong for a family escapade and won’t be back till Wednesday.

I’d still be online but all orders will only ship from Thursday, 11th March. But… here’s a couple of new items to whet your appetite.

I spent a chunk of time between baby K’s (graveyard shift) feed updating the shop and the blog. (**hinthint… check the shop now. a large number of the newly listed items are either one-off or limited edition) A number of gorgeously luxe items have been listed. They are truly beautiful and worth every cent you spend on them. I know I am biased but I really feel that the classic looks that they exude cannot be erhmm, ‘outdated’. Carry them well, take good care of them and you are most likely able to pass them on to your children.

I’ve also updated the “Featured At” selection and am truly thankful that whilst our shop updates have been somewhat infrequent, you shoppers / bloggers have not forgotten us. Each feature means a lot, a certain sense of gratification that you love our jewelry. They continue to be lovingly made by hand. No machines, no production lines.

And… the littlest member of our family thanks you for helping keep her (extremely tired out) mother at home. If you are curious as to what keeps me away from the beading table… you can check out their antics over at When Dog Meets Kat.

We’re still here in case you were wondering. We have been working hard to clear the orders as they come in, including a myriad of custom requests.

We have actually delisted the Ribbon ring (pictured above) for this period and instead ask that you will kindly contact us should you desire one. The reason(s) is/are simple ::- We don’t want to have a huge backlog of customised orders to clear nor for there to be a delay in you receiving your orders… so we are taking them in as we assess our order load and … whether labour is going to be anytime soon. So far, the lil girl seems content to remain inside although I’d really much rather have her out. Carrying her and her sticky older brother is making me lug 1/2 my weight around. NO FUN. And as such, the Baby Shower is still on. Guess the birth day, the birth weight and bring some (virtual) presents!

Meantime, go shopping at Sparkle Thots! There’s been a small restock today.

** You might notice that the ring pictured looks different from the original one in store. It has been lightly hammered to provide added texture and shne. This can only be done on rings made with 925 silver or 14K gold filled as the material is either ’solid’ (silver) or has a much much thicker layer (gold filled). This, as contrasted with plated materials, will not wear off the outer plating and still retain the shine.

You’d realise that it gives the item a lovely handmade feel… and is truly, unique.

blue :: of returning to first loves

Amazonite was the first 'semi-precious' stone I came across as a beader. And it became my first love. Over time, the list of favourites has grown..., exceptionally long. It does not 'shrink', nor is replaced. But as some new gem comes into view, it gets its moment in time.

I still love Amazonite. With the varying shades of blue. From a strong robin blue to the baby boy blue variety. I don't quite judge which is more 'precious' in the gem trade but I go with the heart. I feel that each stone has its own intrinsic beauty.

A couple of days ago I laid eyes on a strand of lovely carved Amazonite roses. I had to grab them and they dutifully followed me home. I first made them into these earrings. Strung on handforged earwires, they dangle with a lil 'tail' at back for an added design flair.

And today, on the spur of the moment, here's a matching ring to go with it. I personally feel that these amazonite roses go best with 925 silver. Hence, in my idiosyncratic beader way, I am not making 14K gold filled versions.

Half of yesterday's sneaks are in store already. Did you notice them? There's a blue wave coming over the Sparkle Thots storefront right now. Maybe because I'm feeling BLUE that the baby ain't here yet. The body's crying murder but I know that once she arrives, there'd be a different set of issues to juggle. Ah well. Can't win them all.

Tomorrow we'd watch for a solar eclipse... and pretty blushing blue amazonite roses strung on hand forged 925 silver earwires. Tata for now.

I’ve listed the ring from yesterday’s post too. Its now available in store. Funny how the mailbox was swarmed with requests for it. :P Its not really ‘new’. It was part of my experimentation with wired rings about 2 months ago and is now being slowly made available as I now have a new mandrel. **love it to bits**

Ring A Ling Ling

Been very busy these couple of days. Partly answering emails with regards to questions about ring sizes and fulfilling orders. I’m pleased to say that most paid orders went out today with another batch going to the post office tomorrow. Do let me know if there are any problems! I doubt so. Singpost has been generally, quite good.

Now… to answer queries with regards to rings.

I had the impression that local jewelry chains used UK sizing until I put my own rings on the mandrel. Then, hmm, ok. They don’t seem to be after all. For all who are interested in knowing your ring size and have a suitable ring to measure with, please use this conversion guide.

I am using US sizing for all my rings because that’s what the mandrel I have uses.

If you do NOT have a ring on hand, there is some more work to be done. Using the same site, measure with a string or strip of paper and input the necessary information.

Having said all this, please note that whilst I really REALLY want your rings to fit, there is an offchance that the ring may err and not fit properly. This is due to changes in ring sizes due to temperature (weight loss / gain), knuckles being relatively bigger, thickness of the band and *gasp*, general slight differences in the measuring tools.

Fun eh? But generally, fingers and rings cooperate.

The admin aside …

This series has a lot of symbolism and meaning behind it for us! I had a couple of themes playing in my mind when I was making the prototype. One was the song, Butterfly Kisses. RIBBONS just kept appearing in my mind. Ribbons too carry with them an idea of awareness and of remembering. And for one who has way too much on her mind right now, they were a quirky way to perk up the work day.

because you're worth it

Seriously. Because you’re worth it. I’m sure you’d have noticed the shift in usage of materials over here at Sparkle Thots. In our early days we explored a large range of materials. From the cheap plastics all the way to the precious stones (my precious!), from the gold / silver coloured findings to the gold filled and 925 silver ones that can be seen on some of our items.

It has been a long journey. And because time is fast becoming a precious commodity, I have selected to use gold filled and 925 silver on some designs. The reason is simple. I want these items to last. These pieces either take a LOT of time and effort or utilise the ‘good stuff’. Or both. And they should be made to last. Oftentimes, these pieces are classic in design and will be able to last the test of time. Sometimes, however, I choose to use gold / silver plated because of cost considerations. Its a fine line to thread really.

So… what exactly do the terms mean?

Goldfilled :-

A solid layer of gold is bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal (usually brass). Gold-filled items are 50 to 100,000 times thicker in gold (plating) content than regular gold plating. We use 14K gold filled parts. The gold can still wear off through daily use over time. But will take much longer to wear through as compared to normal plating.

925 Silver :-

The industry standard for silver used is 925 silver. Pure silver is far too soft to be manipulated and hence the alloy compound is used instead. It can tarnish on prolonged contact with air, water and oxygen but can be cleaned with solutions / cloths.

Bali Silver :-

Bali silver is unique in the sense that it is almost always made by hand. It is also likely to be 99% silver, even purer than 925.

Gold / Silver Plating :-

A fine gold / silver film is deposited on a base metal by electrolysis. The film can be as thin as seven millionths of an inch. These items cannot be called gold filled / 925 silver.

Hope this helps explain the difference in cost and solve the mystery behind the terminology.

I don’t like to mix materials because I personally feel it takes away from the effect of using the ‘good stuff’. A plated finding paired with gold filled / 925 silver hooks may help lower the cost substantially but it will look mighty ugly when the plating on the findings wears thin. What then? I’d rather make sure the design is worth it and use only the finest for it. You do get what you pay for.

As promised… bracelets are coming back to the store! I have been struck once again by the simple beauty of bracelets to want to make them again. I used to hate making them because it was so difficult with different sized wrists and all but seeing some pretty ones (in tutorials and in stores) just got me hooked.

Silver Ropes

925 silver wires have been handwrapped to form the bangle frame. Each with an internal diameter of 2.5inches, suitable for most Asian sized wrists. Each bangle is simply accessorised with either a singular mauve shell pearl or that an a chinese character (Love / Happiness). Simple, effective, clean lines. Perfectly charming.

Nestled Vines

And for a variation, a gold plated piece. Adorned with a chirpy bird to dance around as you go about your daily activities.

This week’s Friday Selections comes with a twist. It features items from my latest collection, one that I am quite enamoured with. I have always loved the idea of how circles are an ancient symbol of eternity and completeness, so perfect, with no beginning and no end, for love that is given comes back around again. I perked my ears up the first time I heard it — at a friend’s wedding ceremony. Since then, the thought has never left my head.

Gone completely crazy with loops and hoops! I love the imagery of the circle; no beginning and no end. It just continues forever. For the latest selection from Sparkle Thots, we have gone somewhat understated luxury. Simple hoops wirewrapped with faceted gemstones.

Choose yours in either 925 silver or gold plated elegance. Both come with faceted semi-precious gemstones that have been lovingly handwrapped for a somewhat organic, rustic yet very subdued elegant feel. You got to see it in person to be fully appreciate what I’m talking about.

wire work weekends

I’m thinking of making some changes to the routine over here… Weekends might just be the time when I get off one form of www and onto another. Instead of surfing the world wide web, I’m planning to turn the time into wire work weekends. For as long as I can before baby girl makes her appearance and wrecks all forms of a schedule that is.

This weekend was spent learning some new techniques that I hope to launch over at Sparkle Thots.

Chocolat

This piece has been launched in store already. A heady blend of rich chocolat Swarovski pearls for the afternoon cuppa. Imagine a tete-a-tete with friends and you’d be all set to complete the look. Quite yummy I must say. And without any of the calories too!

Endless Loops

Finetuning some design elements and will launch sometime this week if possible. Will need to reduce this pendant’s size into something more petite. Custom sizes will be considered.

Delicate Vines

And finally, bangles / bracelets might be making their long awaited comeback on Sparkle Thots! Watch for updates to this basic design. Again, feel free to email us if you have any design in your mind.

One fruit juice company just launched a new line which they had touted as being filled with power berries. And because they have been drumming it into the consumer’s head, ie, mine… I cannot get the name “Acai berries” out of my head. So when I beaded this pair of earrings last night, it felt apt to name them after the fruit that has been ‘bothering’ me.

Mauve shell pearls are capped with silver bead caps to dangle ala fruits off bali silver earwires. Simple, elegant and perfectly good for everyday use. Or glam it up with this pair. Just don’t clash the colours too much.

i cried

It is very hard to maintain a calm composure when reading about feisty Charmaine. I teared when reading about her (and her mum). Yet it is encouraging to note that the family has not given up on the fight and is doing all it can to deal with the situation. Charmaine is but 4 years old. And yet, she’s stricken with 4th stage cancer, has no dad to dote upon her … but, a wonderful mum and brother.

She needs a lot of money for her surgeries / treatments and quite a few sites are helping right now. They are still about 30% into the needed amount and can do with a lot more support. Do drop by her site to see what you can do. Outright donation or gifts… you decide.

Something somewhat different but just as exquisite as the rest of the items you’d find at Sparkle Thots.

I was told the pendant was vintage Swarovski but have not yet had the time to verify the details. Still, the intaglio carving of the sailboat is done very very well and light just bounces off the cut edges.

Last Saturday we went for our week 34 check up to see baby girl. Daddy was quite full with the prospect of having a girl and harboured serious dreams of her being the typical ‘daddy’s girl’. So here’s 2 new items in store (loaded over the weekend!).

Both are unabashedly pink. Unabashedly feminine for the quintessential “daddy’s girl”. She may grow up with time but the lil girl still remains.

Am really really loving the fact that the weekend is so near. Almost an entire week of tinkering with codes on the backend has driven me nuts. After looking at the necklace, I figured pearls needed their moment in the spotlight again. I really think that they are underrated. They have so much poise and grace, it can turn an outfit around. It also works as an alternative to the bride who does not want to *bling* it up all the way.

If you have been wondering what’s up with the odd changes, disappearing acts and downtime, well, it was really because we have been spending the past week (almost) on doing coding for a fresh new look. It took many many late nights, hair pulling and sobbing (kidding!) to whip the site into shape.

Because I’m no techie and all the codes were as good as gibberish to me.

Am in desperate want of cooler weather! And I’m hoping that colour washing my world with cool blues will help to keep me cool. Whilst it doesn’t always work, it does make sure I’m fashionably dressed and accessorised. Lots of favourites in this selection because blue is also one of my favourite colours.

There is something calming, quaint and serene about it that just appeals. Ok, if forced to select a favourite piece from the items above, I’d go with Northern Lights. The colour flashes from them labradorite briolettes are just too much to resist.

Remember these plump, juicy shell pearls? I just got some in shimmering silvery grey and pure white. Really, really beautiful on their own. Whilst I am almost clean out of the pastel strand (very limited colours left), I had fun exploring what to do with these new ones.

For the first pair, I decided to use these cubic zirconia earhooks that I have been hoarding for something special. The extra touch of ’sparkle’ accents the pearls in a delightful way, adding to it and in no way distracting for their own beauty. I’d dare say they complement each other perfectly.

It is indeed mind boggling to think that many of the beads these days are ‘glass’. Some have such an amazing lustre on them, that you’d think that they are either really semi-precious stones or porcelain. Like this selection we have here. Some artists even work with the raw material to create beautiful lampwork beads.

Maybe someday, I’d get there. As in incorporate them into my creations. But for the moment, enjoy from this selection.

I just found a supplier for glass briolettes and love the colour range it affords for the budget conscious. They sparkle subtly and when gemstones with a similar carat weight are way too expensive, these make a great design alternative.

Quite literally too. While I was musing that yesterday’s post of *something blue* earrings had turned the weather cooler, my mind changed its tune. I woke to lovely cool weather, and a light drizzle. Perfect! Or so I thought. As I was about to photograph some pieces I did last night, I discovered a pair had decided to be ‘windswept’. I found one half of the runaway pair and have had to remake the ‘partner’.

The search teams are still combing the area… but I really wanted to get pictures! We’d find it. I hope. She seems pretty intent on running away. Meantime, her mate has a new partner.

Yes, yes… I’m still complaining about the weather. It really really is hot and humid around here. Some days I wonder why I bother to take baths, some days I wake up feeling I melted into a puddle. Argh.

So I went for some cool blue treats as my mind wandered to the cool regions of the world. Where the humidity is not this terrifying and the days are so much cooler.

I must admit, this has got to be one of my favourite colour combinations. I love how the garnet rondelles just ‘pop’ against the creamy whiteness of the pearls. Yummy really.

I’m slowly working through my hoard… and it actually includes a whole box of pearls. With their lovely lustre and sheen, they add so much to the creation. Some, like these amazing freshwater coin pearls have so much ‘weight’ they really deserve to shine on their own.

I’ve kept this pair simple and elegant. Perfect really for everyday use. Yet special enough to be gifted (and worn!) by a blushing bride on her special day. It is probably an Asian thing to flash those blings on the wedding day but slowly, I see a few brides taking the ’subtle’ method of accessorising with other gemstones / pearls. And it does not take away from their beauty on their special day either!

All Wired Up

I’ve been exploring wire wrapping these few days and have gotten my hands dirty with a few projects. Heck, I’ve been exploring a couple of new styles and each of them has a lil project brewing in the works. It is always an impulsive decision to start something that I almost certainly want to kill myself for doing when I am actually lucid and thinking.

The latest completed project is this piece right on top. I started out thinking it’d be great to advance from this ring on to a pendant. Nevermind the ugly mess I had created with labradorite (I might harden my heart someday and unwrap this whole thing to rescue ‘em labradorites!). I still thought there was hope.

So I tinkered around and came up with this. Except that after completion, I felt it would looks so much better as a pair of earring danglys rather than a single pendant. So *ahem*, I went back to make a companion. Thankfully they do look matched else I’d probably kill myself.

There. One project down. Countless more to go. Meantime, will be off packing orders for today’s mailrun. Catch ya all soon! By the way, the shop has been restocked late Friday and there’s another couple items or so waiting to be added to inventory. Just so you know. Sneaks at Flickr as usual!

I tried this other style of wire wrapping the other day and am quite pleased with the results. I have plans to turn this into a pendant sort of thing but just have not got the time to sit down and work it out proper. It is quite labour intensive… but the result is rather pretty.So… perseverance is KEY.

In other news, we have changed our shop’s packaging. We thank you for your amazing support but we are now completely out of the lovely ziplock pouches. We are *still* using ziplocks to protect your jewelry (keep moisture out, prevent oxidation yaddayaddayadda) but these come in another form. Now they are packed in sweet translucent sort of bags and tagged with a lil gift tag. The reverse is blank so you can write your message on it and gift it away immediately. Of course, if you’d like, we can do the writing for you. We do have neat handwriting. Really!

Now, off to clear admin. We were out the entire day yesterday and everything’s backlogged. Eeps.

willowing vines

You know, mothers-to-be are often said to go through a nesting phase? I haven’t quite experienced that but I am going through a distinct phase of making new items. I have a whole list of items, all involving wire-wrapping that I wanted to try. And slowly but surely, I am checking them off my list.

I’ve discovered a treasure trove of tutorials (majority paid, well you know, generally you pay for what is worth it!) and have been trying my hand at some of them. I think I am glad I only plucked up the courage to try these now and not any earlier. I am pretty sure that I would not be ready to do any semblance of the end product featured if it had been, say, half a year sooner.

Anyway, for this week, I decided to try to Pussy Willow design. Typically found as earrings, I decided to try a necklace pendant instead. A nice comfy dangle of approximately 4.5cm, the pendant hangs from a 16 inch gold plated chain. This one has been adorned with freshwater pearls but possibly, future versions might come with gemstone rondelles. Stay tuned!

After weeks of whining about the hot weather, it does seem like we have gotten our wish. The weather has turned dramatically cooler with lots of rain and it is more than welcome to continue on this way. At least in my corner of the world.

I’ve moved on! To wirewrapping rings. Twas fun exploring the bead stash for useable stones and find new ways to use them. I think I’d be exploring the use of rondelles next in such handmade rings. The citrine ring featured up here is my second attempt.

And this lavender amethyst ring was my virgin ring attempt. I thought they worked out pretty decently?

These sort of handmade rings are slightly more ‘troublesome’. They don’t have adjustable ring bases so you would really need to know your ring size. That said, your ring will be custom made just for you. Pros and cons really.

I’m still perfecting them so hang in there. Do drop me a comment / email if you are interested in getting any made. I’d update you as soon as I am ready to sell! Prototypes might just go on sale at a lower price.

As for now, I’m rushing orders to send out in today’s mailrun!

Ruby Ring

Well, not quite ‘ruby’ per se. The naming came about after an afternoon of kids rhymes (you know, Tommy Thumb and friends). I fancied I had to make a ring sometime soon and this came about last night after tinkering with them beads.

Made with a rich cluster of Czech glass beads, the ring is lightweight enough yet full of flair. Perfect for the ‘pop’ of colour on long tiring days. Sits on an adjustable ring base so there’s no worry about it not fitting. Fun really! Now available in store.

My days kind of just flow into each other and my desk is too cluttered for a calendar. In any case, I did this piece, October Baby, yesterday. Am quite pleased with it.

It is already loaded in store. It reminds me loads of mum. She’s born in October, so opals really are her birthstone. Coupled with pearls that always say elegance, grace and poise, I think it shows a inner beauty that comes from beyond.

For the longest time, I have been crazily infatuated with pink amethyst. Especially this sort of twisted faceted briolettes. But I had never gotten my hands on them before. Until now. (Ok, technically, last week).

And they are gorgeous. Eye clean, multi-faceted, amazing colour and completely droolable.

I finally broke the strand and used them in this simple pair of earrings. Such amazing stones don’t need much accents. Heck, they don’t need anything to bring out their beauty (or to take your attention from them). These briolettes have been handwrapped with 925 silver wire and strung on silver earhooks. Simple, elegant and yummily sparkly. Measures in at just under 2cm drop.

Peach Drops showcases faceted peach moonstone flat briolettes whilst Rose Drops features smooth rose quartz brios. Each have their own charm. Each is beautiful in its own right.

I’ve been crazily adding to my stash of beads… and from these two strands, I managed a new necklace. I haven’t listed it in store just yet but thought a quick preview was needed.

So here’s Fiesta!

A time to celebrate! A vibrant mix of garnet and carnelian faceted rondelles sit atop a sparkling Swarovski drop, exuding a look that is both elegant and fiery at the same time. Pendant drop is approximately 1inch. Strung on a 16 inch gold plated chain. Closes with lobster clasp. All findings used are gold plated.

Busy catching up with orders and admin. You know, the sort of thing that just piles up after a long weekend? I had an interesting week this week. One that was full of ups and downs. I went shopping on Tuesday and delved even deeper into the world of vintage goodies. I’ve seen ‘vintage’ cabachons being sold on Etsy but never any of this quality. This one has a nice detailing and weight to them. And some of the vintage tenshas, well, you can see the difference. It is not the current ’slapped on image’ feel but that there was a certain level of pride taken when the piece was done.

Very intriguing. And of course, me being me, could not resist buying a few. They didn’t come cheaply. Far more expensive than the cheap replicas but really quite droolable.

This piece features a cream rose cabachon measuring about 1.5cm in diameter. Attached to a delicate gold plated chain via pewter birds and garnet accents. Chain length is approximately 16 inches long. Closes with lobster clasp. Currently, I have one piece available because I’m still deciding whether to make another of the same or into something new altogether.

Meantime, don’t you think this fiery orange piece looked like it popped out of a scrapbook page?

And this ‘gem’ just sparkled. Full of old school charm! My precious!

Definitely not me. I’m pretty sure I am melting away in this current scorching heat. It is so unbearably hot that by the time evening comes, I feel all lethargic and not eager to move anywhere. Save an aircon place for dinner. Which we did last night. We went to the neighbourhood mall for some much needed aircon comfort.

Beaded up a couple of cool blue pairs that hopefully, will charm the rain clouds into coming back. Did you hear about the sudden thunderstorm late last night? My twitter feed is all abuzz with it. So maybe, just maybe, these earrings will bring about some relief from the hot weather.

Just picked a couple of these interesting tree charms the other day as I made a last minute dash at the supply shop for some much needed items. I love the way the branches hang and did not want to over-embellish it. So I took the simple route. Add faceted garnet rondelles to the edge and attach to the chain. The total length is approximately 16 inches, closes with lobster clasp. All findings used are gold plated.

Trees have such a great symbolism about them. Especially now when I think about the ‘family tree’ we are creating. A branch off the old one, yet with new shoots that will turn into the ‘main’ stem. We are still all connected. All part of the family.

It is ssssssoooooo good to be back online! I was a harrassed bee yesterday when the site went down unexpectedly. I was waiting impatiently for some emails from suppliers, following up on correspondence from customers went the whole thing went deadly silent. Everything’s well and good right now. Apparently the server’s hdd died. What luck.

Thankfully that is past us right now.

Some eye candy for items that will make their debut by next Monday. I’m clearing my backlog of work right now. Talk about over-reliance on technology. We apologise for the delay in getting orders / shipments / repairs / customisations out for this week. Trust us, we are usually very prompt!

This week has been a real anomaly. First with 4 damaged packages that needed returns and repairs, then the server crash. Ahh… Bad week begone.

Yesterday was my 4th wedding anniversary. We didn’t celebrate but as per ‘tradition’ here’s a little piece to commemorate the day. This time, I didn’t go for the traditional symbolism of colours and stone but went for the ideology behind it. A marriage, and any relationship for that matter, requires lots of care, love, concern, truth and trust. Much like tending to a garden. This piece features pretty faceted prasiolite briolettes that are paired with a single silver flower for a dainty drop. All strung on a 16 inch 925 silver chain. Closes with a parrot clasp.

Spring is officially here…! Yes, even at Sparkle Thots where we don’t really follow the ’seasons’. A small collection of spring themed earrings will be up in store soon. So do watch for them.

Above is Spring Bells. Dainty pink Czech glass flowers sit atop white Czech beads. A soft feminine look, perfect for adding just a hint of colour to your outfit.

Well, this pair was made during a short ‘break’ during the long packed weekend. It certainly looks more refreshed than us right this moment! A mixture of apatite, peridot and clear quartz, it is quite the petite pair for a touch of summery fashion.

Did you realise that today is the last working day of the week? I forgot. I’ve been so busy that I didn’t quite connect that Good Friday holiday is tomorrow. Hmm. So today would be the last day for a mail run for the week. All orders that have been paid for will be shipped today, unless otherwise communicated.

We have a new range of silver goodies in store. Some incorporating the Karen Hill Tribe silver. The silver from here is of a higher percentage, 99.9% silver as compared to normal 925 silver. We have launched a mother-daughter Starfish set that you can also purchase separately.

Swarovski is also making a strong appearance in our items as we rediscover the sparkle these crystals exude. We are sure you’d also fall in love with them once you see them in real life. They offer so much dazzle, it is hard to ignore. We also tend to use the uncommon designs to create added variety and interest. I’m sure you can tell the difference!

We are doing some spring cleaning on our inventory. More items have been shifted to our sale section. Again, it is a ‘once gone, always gone’ policy. Many of the items there are last item pieces so do grab them if they catch your eye.

Personally, I could do with a little bubbly right now. Nevermind that it is only 9 plus in the morning. But the lil bub baking in the oven is adverse to alcohol so I can only dream. Things are off to a rocky start today and I feel so sleep deprived. The current bright spot right this moment is this pair of earrings, Champagne Kisses that has so much elegant sparkle (you know, as opposed to flashy ‘in your face’ loudness?) it cheered me up a notch.

I’ve loaded it in store already and am tempted to keep one. Just for the days when I’m feeling low. Or when I’m going to some glitzy dress-up dinner.

One week into April, I’m stuck knee deep in my latest infatuation. Infatuations rather. Swarovski, semi-precious stone — Garnet, silver and clusters! They all add up to get me really busy and happy twisting wires… and here’s a preview of the latest designs, fresh from the oven.

A number are done up with 925 silver findings because with all the work and care put into making them, (not to mention the quality of the stones, Swarovski or semi-precious ones) I’d love them to last longer.

Avant garde shaped Swarovski crystal in golden hues are topped with smooth garnet rondelles. Set with 925 silver findings. Measures a petite 0.5 inch drop, excluding earhooks. Silver earhooks are a dainty sight, measuring approximately 0.5 inch in diameter. Retails at SGD 28.

Similar to the first pair, these are made with a smoky shaded crystal and faceted garnet rondelles. Also retailing at SGD 28.

Wine Drops ::- Like wine swirled in a glass, these leave a delightful rich aftertaste. Faceted garnet rondelles drape atop Swarovski crystal briolettes for an elegant classy finish. Strung on 925 ear threads, adjust to your favourite length (maximum of 7cm drop). All findings used are 925 silver. Retails at SGD 78.50.

A shell heart measuring approximately 2 cm is topped with a cluster of faceted garnet and smooth sunstone rondelles for a summery warm look. Strung from a 16 inch gold plated chain (closes with lobster clasp), she sits exhibiting her vibrant hues with great pride. Total pendant drop measures about 1 inch. All findings used are gold plated. Retails at SGD 35.

All the above are limited edition because they are quite a bit of work and the materials cost too. I can’t quite afford to stock so many! Will be loaded in store soon, but if you are worried, drop me an email to reserve.

First up, D.Ker please email me. Apparently the email address you entered was wrong. If not, I’d just pass up the reservation to the next person on the waiting list.

Now that that is out of the way, here’s a peek at the white shell flower studs all finished up. These will retail at SGD 30. The pink ones will retail at SGD 35. The centre crystal is a Swarovski flatback crystal, full of sparkle you’d expect from well, Swarovski!

These are really sweet and delicate, measuring in at approximately 0.5 inches per flower. Attached to dainty 925 silver stud backs (see second picture).

And… now on to something new! Gorgeous sunstone smooth rondelles drape over a Swarovski briolette drop. Completely made of 925 silver findings for long(er) lasting wear. Elegant, sassy, smooth and classy. Extremely limited edition. Retails at SGD 72.50.

Sneaks -- Spring Blossoms

More sneaks for Spring! The previous pair, has been completely reserved / sold. Thank you all for your support. Meantime, here are some simple earrings to spruce up your outfit, to remember that the flowers are still blooming (even though you I might be wilting in the heat). These are made of Czech glass and twisted on earhooks for a fun drop. No more than 2cm for the purple pair / 0.5inch for the salmon pink pair.

And a real sneak sneak. I’m not through with these yet. They need a little bit of sparkle. These are also quite precious, limited edition. Approximately 0.5 inch in diameter, delicate carved shell flowers mounted on 925 silver studs.

Enjoying Spring

Salmon pink flowers with green ‘leaves’. I may be late but I do like Spring. The weather crept up on us again. What with us staying so near the equator. But seeing the lovely blossoms and changing seasons through friends’ photos from faraway places made me happy.

So this April, our first collection will be Spring Blossoms! What’s that about you ask? Well, it would be a delightful mix of colours with a ’side’ of clean organic selections. Still lost? Stay tuned to check them out!

I spent some time over the weekend working on these lil angels. Some friends know I was in quite a foul mood but thankfully, that has since passed. Making these lil angels has been somewhat therapeutic. Repeating the motions and watching them slowly take shape. Plus their sparkle! Pretty!

Makes me wonder how the real angels up in heaven are like.

I spent Sunday afternoon holed up in the workroom finishing up the design for a set of bag charms that had been ordered. I had fun working on them, exploring my boxes (yes, BOXES!) of beads along the way. I haven’t quite been doing wine charms for the longest time, but it is something I can do.

Yes : I am still working on orders, customs and ‘items in inventory’.

No : I have not disappeared into some blackhole.

Pardon the somewhat ‘broken’ blog. I am working on it. However, balancing editing urls and making sure orders get sent out, I rather focus on the latter. So… I have done a stop gap measure to ensure that the urls for the pictures appearing on the MAIN page are working and am, not bothering about the rest for the moment.

The good thing is, the bandwidth is going to be reset next month so erhmm, bear with me. Yes, it is an eyesore but … I’ve only got 24 hours in a day!

Continuing the ‘wedding theme’ I’ve stumbled into for the week, is this gorgeous necklace. I think it is perfect for a simple elegant wedding. Imagine it paired with a bustier dress. Dreamy and soft yet calm and collected. Pretty!

I managed to clear my worktable to create enough space to begin working on my custom orders. I worked through a few ‘nagging’ design thoughts before I had to take a break to rest my eyes.

I haven't quite been doing bracelets for a bit but when I saw this chain sitting innocently in the supply store, I *knew* that a small collection of bracelets would be on the cards. So here is the first in the series. A antique gold plated pewter charm of a charming bear carrying a single flower sits right smack in the middle of the chain. The bracelet closes with a heart shaped toggle clasp for added whimsical charm.

And... it matches this pair of earrings PERFECTLY. Great if you are one of those whose accessories 'die die must match' sort of person.
